New Dancewave Center: A peek into the future
Dancewave is thrilled to announce our first Capital Project, a brand new community arts & culture center at 182 4th Avenue in Brooklyn, in collaboration with the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs and Department of Design & Construction. Construction on the new Center, designed by Studio Joseph, is projected to begin in August 2017.
Architectural rendering of the New Dancewave Center at 182 4th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY
- Encompass 3,600 square feet - nearly three times the size of our current center.
- Feature two studios connected by a moveable wall and opening into a performance space for 100 occupants.
- Include LEED certification, a central HVAC heating system, restrooms/dressing rooms, lighting grid, and a sprung dance floor.
- **Sound system, AV equipment, furniture for the lobby area, computers for office space, and lockers in the dressing rooms are still needed but not included in the scope of current funding.
To date, NYC has allocated 3.4 million to this project, but delays in city planning coupled with additional costs (including LEED) leave us a million short of our goal. We continue to advocate to our local legislators and generous community supporters and we ASK YOUR SUPPORT to make the New Dancewave Center a reality!
