Young Movers Ensemble (YME) was created in 2007 for dancers ages 10-13 years. This ensemble offers a more progressive educational opportunity for younger students to move through our curriculum, and exposes them to the works of professional artists.

REPERTORY AND CURRENT GUEST CHOREOGRAPHERS

YME is continuing its work with Nicola Penfold for the 2012-2013 season.

REHEARSAL AND TRAINING

YME provides a training ground for younger students who are interested in potentially entering the Dancewave Company program. Members are required to attend a one hour rehearsal per week, working with one choreographer per year. During this time, the guest choreographer sets the piece onto the ensemble and mentors participants. YME rehearsals take place once a week on Tuesdays and are devoted to learning new choreography. This past year, YME worked with emerging choreographer and Dancewave Faculty member Nicola Penfold.

In addition to rehearsals, YME is required to attend a minimum of one technique class – Modern II. It is also strongly encouraged that members take an additional ballet class.

Our programs follow the school year from September to June, divided into 2 semesters lasting 15-17 weeks each. All classes, performances and rehearsals take place outside regularly scheduled school hours. Performances occur throughout the year, including Dancewave’s signature performance series Kids Cafe Festival and our Spring Celebration. The 2012-13 Season has closed. Please check the School at Dancewave page (located on the navigation bar to the left) in late July 2013 to view class and rehearsal schedule for the 2013-14 Season.
