Workshop Leader: Patch Schwadron, The Actors Fund
Make the most of your college career with Patch Schwadron’s 5-Year Portfolio Plan. This workshop reviews the concept of creating a portfolio career and how you can plan to become a thriving artist instead of just finding a survival job, starting in your first year of college. Discussion includes how students can use their experiences in college (coursework, internships and summer study abroad and intensives) to build meaningful careers on and off the stage. Identify your skills that can become career assets and find your niche!
BFA, BA, CONSERVATORY: How Do You Choose?

Join us for a discussion on the different types of college programs typically offered at most colleges and universities. This panel will address the difference between the programs and professional training, as well as how to choose the program that makes the most sense for your student. The panel will discuss choosing additional majors, major/minor combinations, and identifying additional skill sets and assets that help in decision-making. Parents will have the opportunity to ask questions.

This panel will discuss what criteria admissions offices look for in applicants and how to navigate the process. Parents learn how the application process is driven by both college dance departments and admissions departments. Panelists will outline options for scholarships and financial aid. Parents will have the opportunity to ask questions.
MODERN & IMPROVISATION MASTER CLASS
When: 11am-12:30pm or 2:30-4:00pm

Master Class Taught by: Douglas Gillespie
Build your performative skillset and learn the basics of improvisation with dynamic NYC-based choreographer Douglas Gillespie. Gillespie demonstrates how to translate simple movement phrases into engagement with a partner – an essential tool for auditions and choreography.

Students will have the opportunity to learn from movement and anatomy specialist, Lissa Machalak. Learn tips and measures to prevent, condition and recover from the most common dance injuries.
