Kathleen Helm


Kathleen Helm, originally from Southern California, is an experienced performer, choreographer, and educator. She is currently on faculty at the Bank Street School for Children and Blue School, and she previously taught at California State University, Long Beach, Mark Morris Dance Center, and Imagine Early Learning Centers. Kathleen has performed in works by Rebecca Bryant, Kevin Iega Jeff, Gary Abbott, Helen Pickett, Mike Esperanza, and Robert Moses, and she was a member of Chicago’s Deeply Rooted Dance Theater. With her company, Kathleen Helm & Dancers, her choreography has been presented throughout NYC, at the 92Y, Triskelion Arts, Gelsey Kirkland Arts Center, Dixon Place, and Ailey Citigroup Theater. Kathleen’s work has also been selected for various festivals throughout the U.S., including the American College Dance Festival Gala, Chicago Freelance Dance, and the SoCal Dance Invitational. She was chosen as one of ten choreographers to be mentored by Doug Varone and was named a 2015 Breaking Glass choreographer, a platform that recognizes emerging female choreographers. Kathleen received her M.F.A. in Dance from CSU Long Beach in 2015, and she is currently pursuing her M.A. in Dance Education and NYS Teaching Certification at Hunter College.
