UPDATE: Following New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s Emergency Executive Order 225, Dancewave will require proof of COVID-19 vaccination and valid identification upon entering the facility for all staff, interns, volunteers and patrons ages 12 and older.     Full studio availability is dependent on “Studio A” and “Studio B” bookings that overlap. Colored blocks on the calendar below indicate available studio times:

    Green: Studio A available (1-6 persons)
    Blue:Studio B available (1-6 persons)
    Pink:Full Studio available (1-18 persons)
    Purple:Observed holiday/studio closure (no rentals)

    Dance Rehearsals*:
    Studio A or B: $18 – $20/hr ○ Full Studio: $23 – $25/hr                     Class Share Program: $45/hr for In-person Teaching ○ Full Studio Only
    Music/Theater Rehearsals:
    Studio A or B: $20/hr ○ Full Studio: $25/hr
    Private Lessons: Studio A or B: $25/hr
    Meetings: Full Studio: $45/hr
    Classes/Workshops (Full Studio only):
    $30/hr for Virtual Teaching ○
    $45/hr for In-person Teaching

*Dancewave is able to automatically offer NYC-based dance artists a subsidized hourly rehearsal rate (Studio A or B: $18/hr ○ Full Studio: $23/hr) thanks to a grant received by Dance/NYC’s New York City Dance Rehearsal Space Subsidy Program, made possible by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Our Class Share Program supports and amplifies artists seeking to share and cultivate their teaching practices among a supportive and engaged community. By acting as a community hub for artists, educators and visionaries, Dancewave invites mission-aligned artists to join the Class Share Program and benefit from access to Dancewave’s space and organizational resources.

 

How to Get Involved:

If you are an eager teaching artist looking for a home studio space to share your teaching practice, apply to our Class Share Program. You can apply by submitting a Rental Request form

Rates: $45/hr for In-person Teaching ○ Minimum of 4 hrs

 

The 1,400 sq foot Dancewave Center studio is a fully ADA compliant and LEED-gold certified facility, supporting a variety of community needs. Rentals feature a mobile, semi sound-proof curtain that can divide the space into two separate studios.

    ○ 1400 sq feet (40' x 35') (2 columns)
    *18 person maximum capacity during COVID-19 (typically holds up to 30)
    ○ Full-length mirror on 2 sides
    ○ Natural light
    ○ Sound system

  • Rental time slots are flexible; time may be added but no reservation can be made for less than 2 hours
  • Masks must be worn while in the studio if you are not vaccinated; disposable masks are available
  • No refunds if canceled less than 7 days before rental date
  • Payment is required in advance to secure the space
  • No heeled shoes allowed (including tap shoes)
  • Sneakers must be cleaned before entering the studio

Space Intact Policy: Renters are prohibited from moving into another studio space during their reservation for any reason. Thank you for helping us maintain a clean and safe space for all. For everyone's health and wellbeing, Dancewave reserves the right to terminate Rental Agreements for those found in violation of these policies.
