Open Position: Executive Director
Dancewave seeks an Executive Director to continue its legacy as a leading dance education non-profit, now celebrating 25 years. Our next Executive Director will provide strategic vision and operational responsibility for our organization as an inspiring manager, passionate fundraiser and competent administrator. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the organization’s consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives. The right candidate may also provide artistic oversight, working in conjunction with the Director of Education.
The successful candidate for this role will possess the following skills and experience:
○ A successful track record in leadership and management in the arts/dance/nonprofit environment
○ Demonstrated success in personally securing philanthropic support in a not-for-profit arts/dance environment
○ A collaborative style that engages staff, Board, and key donors
○ Ability to develop partnerships with local and community partners
○ A demonstrable commitment to advancing justice, equity, diversity and inclusion
○ Experience developing organizational routines and processes
○ Strong social and interpersonal skills in multiple social and business contexts
○ Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
○ Innovative problem-solver
○ Knowledge and awareness of or direct experience in the dance field is a plus

The right candidate will be experienced teaching in a public school setting, highly organized and have strong classroom management skills. This is an exciting and rewarding position for a dancer who wants to make a direct impact in local communities. Schools & Community Programs Internship
Dancewave seeks an Intern to assist the Schools and Community Programs team in the coordination of our award-winning community residency program. Our programs provide high-quality, individualized classes for a variety of community sites throughout all five boroughs of New York City, primarily public schools and senior centers. This candidate will advocate for Dancewave’s Community Programs through coordination of funding meetings with NYC Council Members; track and maintain Community Programs calendar; research new school and community partnerships and contacts; organize internal data and information, including digital files and media, primarily through Google Drive; observe and record community dance classes through site visits, photography, and video.
Social Media & Marketing Internship
Dancewave seeks an Intern to assist the Director of Marketing & Communications in the promotion of our exciting calendar of classes, performances, events and initiatives including the Dancewave Gala, seasonal Master Classes, summer camps and intensives, and Dancewave Through College & Beyond (DTCB). The Social Media & Marketing Intern creates friendly and accessible social media promotions for Dancewave events, translates promotional images and video content into exciting promotional graphics, assists in event documentation and archiving, researches new online marketing techniques, organizes internal data and information including digital files and social media insights, has the ability to apply new ideas to a template while staying on-brand.
