EmmaGrace Skove-Epes (she/her)
EmmaGrace Skove-Epes is a movement and sound-based artist, performer, teacher, organizer, and Brooklyn native. Her performance work has lived at venues including Theater for the New City, Roulette Intermedium, New York Live Arts, AUNTS/Arts@Renaissance, Brooklyn Bridge Park, and the Center for Performance Research. She is currently a curator of the Movement Research Fall Festival, invisible material, with co-curators Jonathan Gonzalez and Zavé Martoharjono. She is a Work Up 4.0 artist at Gibney dance, and has been the recipient of a residency at Gowanus Arts, a space grant at the Brooklyn Arts Exchange, and a Fresh Tracks residency at New York Live Arts, with collaborator Jonathan Gonzalez. As a performer, she currently works with Edisa Weeks, RoseAnne Spradlin, Jesse Phillips-Fein, and Nadia Tykulsker. She has previously worked with choreographers Peniel Guerrier, Jon Kinzel, Sondra Loring, Dianne McIntyre, Jodi Melnick, and Maria Simpson among others, and she has performed as a vocalist with the band SCHOOL. She currently teaches at Third Root Community Health Center and as a teaching artist through New York Live Arts and has taught at studios and schools including James Baldwin High School, Brooklyn Studios for Dance, Stella Adler/NYU Drama Department, NYU Tisch Summer Dance Residency Festival and Bard College. EmmaGrace currently organizes with Artists Co-Creating Real Equity, a multiracial caucus group of artists , and is a facilitator with Breaking White Silence, a collective of white antiracist artists organizing and facilitating one on one conversations with white folx with the specific purpose of identifying personal practices to undo toxic white conditioning and to subvert participation in systemic racism.
