Jie-Hung Connie Shiau (she/her)
Jie-Hung Connie Shiau is from Tainan, Taiwan. Shiau attended the high school program at the Dance Department at Taipei National University of the Arts, and received a BFA at SUNY Purchase College. Shiau has had the pleasure to dance with AIM By Kyle Abraham, Gallim Dance, Adam Barruch, MeenMoves, and most recently with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. In addition, Shiau was named the Honorable Mention for Jadin Wong Award for Emerging Asian American Dancer in 2014, one of the Dance Magazine’s “25 To Watch” in 2018, a recipient of Chicago Dancemaker Forum Greenhouse Artist in 2019. As a choreographer, Shiau has created works at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Summer Intensives, Loyala University, and Earl Mosley Diversity of Dance. Shiau’s most recent commissioned dance film, “Greener Grass” with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, was a semi-finalist awardee in the London International Web & Shorts Film Festival. She is currently a freelance artist with Helen Simoneau Danse, and an Artisitic Associate with Gibney Company.
